AFK Arena Tier List (September 2026): Best Heroes, Teams, Investments, and Beginner Guide
If you have not played AFK Arena for a year or two, opening the hero screen in 2026 can feel like walking into a completely different game. We now have Awakened heroes, Celestials and Hypogeans, Dimensionals, Draconis and Highborn Dragons, Signature Items, furniture, Engravings, Collections, Oath Marks, T5 gear, Fabled Beasts, plus several competitive modes where one hero can be amazing in Nightmare Corridor and barely matter in Treasure Scramble.
That is why this afk arena tier list is not just a list of pretty portraits arranged from S to C. I am ranking heroes around actual September 2026 account value: Cursed Realm, Nightmare Corridor, Treasure Scramble, campaign, faction towers, Temporal Rift and PvP all matter. I will also separate Classic AFK Arena from AFK Arena: Companions, because mixing those two metas is one of the easiest ways to follow completely wrong advice.
I. Introduction to AFK Arena Tier List
A. What Is AFK Arena and Why Tier Lists Matter?
AFK Arena is an idle squad-building RPG where five heroes fight automatically, but there is much more strategy underneath that simple setup. Formation position, faction bonuses, energy generation, crowd control, survivability, hero investment and skill interactions decide whether a team works.
Tier lists become important because premium resources are limited. Time Emblems, Stargazer Cards, Draconis Insignias, red Signature Item chests, furniture cards, engraving cores and Fabled Beast resources can take months to accumulate.
Putting those resources into a hero who has already disappeared from competitive modes hurts much more than pulling one bad copy.
B. How This Tier List Is Updated – September 2026 Meta
This guide uses the September 2026 Classic meta, with special notes for Companions where appropriate.
I place more weight on current recurring resource modes—Nightmare Corridor, Cursed Realm and Treasure Scramble—than on old campaign-only rankings. Those modes keep giving resources every cycle, so heroes that repeatedly appear there normally provide better long-term account value.
C. Who Should Use This Guide?
New players can use it to build their wishlist correctly. Returning players can see which old investments still matter. Rerollers can avoid chasing impossible starting targets, while veterans can compare where newer heroes fit into established teams.
II. AFK Arena Tier List Overview – September 2026
The biggest correction to older lists is simple: Elijah & Lailah, Talene, Mehira and Ainz are no longer the unquestioned top four heroes of AFK Arena.
They remain useful in certain situations, but years of power creep have changed the priority dramatically.
A. S+ Tier: Best-of-the-Best Heroes
My modern S+/SS group includes heroes such as Elthara, Awakened Hybris, Awakened Envydiel, Liberta, Daemia, Lucilla, Dracula, Lan, Tavriel, Leviathan, Lavatune, Awakened Athalia, Misha and several other current premium specialists.
These heroes either dominate multiple competitive modes or provide effects that are very difficult to replace.
B. S Tier: Strong Picks With High Value
This level includes Awakened Shemira, Awakened Fawkes, Awakened Safiya, Awakened Skriath, Rimuru, Shuna, Emilia, Jerome, Sion, Gorok, Begris, Serenmira, Odysseus and other regularly used modern heroes.
Many can look S+ when the current boss or Treasure Scramble debuff favors them.
C. A Tier: Situational or Solid Investments
This is where I would place many strong but less universal heroes, including several older Awakened characters, specialized supports and legacy carries.
Old Eironn, Tasi and Gwyneth can still solve content, but they are no longer where I would put my most expensive resources first.
D. B/C Tier: Niche or Lower-Priority Units
Ainz is the perfect example of power creep. He once ruled AFK Arena so completely that entire PvP metas revolved around surviving his ultimate. In 2026, he is mostly a legacy/garrison option rather than a priority competitive carry.
Many older Mythic-era heroes and Dimensionals fall into this category now.
III. Top S+ Tier Characters Ranked
A. Elijah & Lailah – Classic Haste Support
The Twins are still useful, especially when you need haste, energy flow or boss support, but calling them the best overall support in September 2026 is outdated.
The nice thing is that they can sometimes function at low ascension. I would obtain useful copies when appropriate, but I would not Stargaze them to full investment before modern priorities such as Liberta, Daemia or other current Celepogeans.
B. Talene – Healing, Rebirth and Utility
Original Talene was legendary because she repeatedly revived, healed teammates and dealt respectable damage.
She still has niches and can function cheaply in some teams, but she is no longer a premium Stargazing priority. Modern Celestials provide far more account-wide value for the same expensive investment.
C. Mehira – Crowd-Control Specialist
Mehira aged better than many old heroes because charm is inherently useful. Even a relatively low-investment Mehira can contribute to high-deficit campaign teams.
That is exactly why I would not rush to max her. Her best feature is doing useful work without requiring a fully Ascended, engraved build.
D. Ainz Ooal Gown – Former AoE King
Ainz is one of the most famous heroes in AFK Arena history. His massive ultimate, Albedo protection and old Dimensional teams dominated both campaign and PvP.
Those days are gone. Build Ainz for nostalgia or older PvE solutions, but do not treat him as a September 2026 hypercarry worth prioritizing over modern Dimensionals.
E. Rowan – Energy Support and Team Sustain
Rowan remains a great early account hero because a single copy already gives healing potions and useful energy mechanics.
His Signature Item was historically one of the strongest early SI30 upgrades. He is still good, just no longer the automatic best support in every endgame formation.
F. Merlin – Healer and Damage Mitigation
Merlin is a Dimensional support who can heal, mitigate dangerous burst and protect priority allies.
He remains useful for progression and some PvP teams, although modern support competition is fierce. I still like him for developing accounts because his kit solves straightforward survival problems.
G. Ezizh – Energy Control Utility
Original Ezizh helps with energy and ultimate-control mechanics and can still work at low ascension in certain situations.
He is no longer a hero I would heavily prioritize through the Challenger Store before checking modern alternatives.
H. Eironn – Old-School Control Carry
Eironn is a Wilder physical Ranger, not a “sleep control mage.” His famous trick is pulling enemies together at the start of battle.
That mechanic made the old Five-Pull formation one of AFK Arena's iconic teams. Today, Awakened Eironn is far more relevant to modern high-end investment than the original version.
IV. Best Lightbearer Faction Heroes
This outline contains several heroes who are not Lightbearers, so I would build the faction around its actual modern core.
A. Lucius – Early Tank and Shield Support
Original Lucius is still comfortable during early progression because shields and healing help weak accounts survive.
For high-end investment, Awakened Lucius is the far more serious option.
B. Awakened Belinda – Magic Hypercarry
Awakened Belinda remains a devastating magic damage dealer and continues to appear in PvE and Temporal Rift solutions.
She has fallen from her absolute peak, so brand-new accounts should compare her against newer Awakened priorities before spending hundreds of Time Emblems.
C. Awakened Estrilda – Modern Lightbearer Frontline
Crimson Reaver is the Awakened version of Estrilda and provides much more modern frontline value than the original.
She should not be confused with ordinary Estrilda when discussing investment.
D. Arthur – Actually Dimensional
Arthur is not a Lightbearer. He belongs to the Dimensional faction.
Historically he worked well as a durable frontline unit, but he is now an older Dimensional investment.
E. Theowyn – Actually Graveborn
Theowyn belongs to Graveborn and has little reason to appear in a current Lightbearer ranking.
F. Haelia – Actually Draconis
Haelia is a Draconis hero rather than a Lightbearer healer. Her strongest value has generally been seen in PvP-oriented applications.
G. Izold – Actually Graveborn
Izold is a Graveborn Warrior, not a Lightbearer Marksman.
For modern Lightbearer accounts, heroes such as Palmer, Jerome, Awakened Fawkes, Awakened Lucius, Awakened Belinda and Awakened Estrilda are much more relevant names.
V. Best Mauler Faction Heroes
A. Awakened Brutus – Frontline Bruiser
Awakened Brutus was once an enormous upgrade for Mauler accounts and is still usable, but newer Awakened heroes have reduced his priority.
B. Khazard – Actually Hypogean
Khazard is Hypogean, not Mauler. His old campaign value came largely from extending crowd-control effects through his Signature Item.
He can still function at relatively modest ascension for that niche.
C. Orthros – Actually Celestial
Orthros is Celestial. His time-control mechanics still occasionally appear in boss content, but he is no longer a general Mauler investment.
D. Kaz – Actually Wilder
Kaz is an old Wilder agility hero and is firmly a low-priority modern investment.
E. Kregor – Actually Draconis
Kregor is a Draconis hero who has had PvP applications. He does not belong in the Mauler faction tower.
F. Framton – Actually Hypogean
Framton is another Hypogean. His pull and positioning mechanics once gave him useful PvP applications, but he has heavily fallen out of investment priority.
For actual modern Maulers, watch Awakened Skriath, Awakened Safiya, Talimar, Naroko, Gorren, Villanelle and the newly released Valeri.
VI. Best Wilder Faction Heroes
Only part of the supplied list is Wilder.
A. Lyca – Haste and Starting Energy
Original Lyca remains valuable because her opening haste and energy effect can work with minimal investment.
That makes one early copy useful even when you do not plan to fully build her.
B. Nara – Actually Graveborn
Nara is Graveborn. Her hook can still isolate an annoying backline enemy during early campaign progression.
C. Skreg – Actually Mauler
Skreg belongs to Mauler and became famous for invasion-style teams after his furniture upgrades.
D. Zolrath – Actually Hypogean
Zolrath is Hypogean and historically became very important in PvP because of his battle-opening manipulation.
E. Wu Kong – Actually Celestial
Wu Kong is Celestial and now primarily has value as an easily acquired legacy Celestial or potential swap resource rather than a meta carry.
F. Flora – Actually Celestial
Flora is also Celestial. She can still substitute in certain PvP formations but is not a Wilder support.
G. Lorsan – Genuine Wilder Utility
Lorsan is the real Wilder on this list. His link mechanic can amplify specific damage setups, and he can sometimes work with only one copy.
H–J. Raine, Anoki and Mezoth
Raine is Lightbearer, Anoki is Mauler and Mezoth is Hypogean.
For an actual September Wilder priority list, think about Misha, Atheus, Awakened Eironn, Awakened Pippa, Trishea, Tamrus and useful low-investment Lyca/Lorsan tech.
VII. Best Graveborn Faction Heroes
A. Awakened Thoran – Deathlord
Awakened Thoran is a legitimate Graveborn option with much more modern utility than original Thoran.
Original Thoran still has his famous cheese strategy, but newer players should not assume they need to build an entire account around it.
B. Awakened Shemira – Corpsemaker
Awakened Shemira remains one of the safest older Awakened investments because she has been excellent in PvP, campaign and Temporal Rift while also appearing in recurring modes.
She is dramatically stronger than original Shemira.
C. Olgath – Actually Hypogean
Olgath is Hypogean, not Graveborn, and his current priority is much lower than at release.
D. Silas – Healer, Not DPS
Silas really is Graveborn, but his main identity is healing, buffing and support.
His ability to keep a carry alive while increasing offensive output made him one of the faction's longest-lasting supports.
E. Mortas – Actually Hypogean
Mortas is Hypogean and often works without full ascension, which is one reason players historically kept a cheap copy.
F. Malkrie – Celestial, Not Graveborn
Malkrie belongs to the Celestial faction.
G. Treznor – Graveborn Tank/Disruptor
Treznor is genuinely Graveborn and has PvP utility, although he is no longer a first-wave investment.
Modern Graveborn priorities also include Ivan, Lady Simona, Grezhul, Hodgkin and newer Awakened options depending on mode.
VIII. Best Celestial & Hypogean Heroes
This section also needs substantial correction.
A. Daimon – Actually Graveborn
Daimon is Graveborn. He remains one of the best examples of an early-game carry who can perform with modest investment, but he is not a Celestial tank.
B. Talimar – Actually Mauler
Talimar is Mauler and currently has strong support value, especially in competitive content.
C. Sion – Draconis
Sion belongs to Draconis and is a powerful DPS option rather than a Celestial/Hypogean.
D. Zaphrael – Celestial Burst
Zaphrael actually belongs here, although years of power creep have reduced his investment priority significantly.
E. Umbriel – Draconis
Umbriel is Draconis and has situational Cursed Realm usefulness.
F. Atheus – Wilder
Atheus is one of the stronger Wilder tanks/control heroes and definitely not Celestial.
G. Awakened Hybris – Hypogean Powerhouse
Hybris is one of the genuine premium Hypogean choices in 2026 and deserves far more attention than older names such as Mezoth or Framton.
H. Serennia – Draconis
Serennia is Draconis.
For actual Celepogean priority, I currently value names such as Liberta, Daemia, Misfortis, Lysander, Lavatune, Knox, Lucilla and the strongest Awakened Hypogeans far above most of the legacy pool.
IX. Best Dimensional Heroes
Most of the heroes listed in the original outline are not Dimensionals. Awakened Safiya is Mauler, Awakened Athalia is Celestial, Awakened Solise is Wilder, Awakened Thane and Awakened Fawkes are Lightbearers, Awakened Pippa is Wilder, Palmer is Lightbearer, Lavatune is Hypogean, Misfortis is Celestial, Lucilla is Hypogean, Daemia is Celestial, Scarlet is Lightbearer, Zikis is Hypogean and Hodgkin is Graveborn.
Actual modern Dimensionals include:
Dracula – Sanguine Queen: One of the strongest recent Dimensionals and a genuinely worthwhile competitive unit.
Saitama: A powerful 2026 collaboration hero with strong multi-mode value.
Athena – Goddess of Wisdom: A newer tank who combines protection with offensive support.
Medusa – Cursed Gaze: Uses Stonecurse and control to suppress opponents.
Emilia: Still excellent because strong control ages well.
Rimuru and Shuna: Both remain useful modern Dimensional investments.
Judy & Punch: A 2026 mage focused on disruption, control and AoE.
Sung Jinwoo: Still useful as a Dimensional damage dealer.
Older heroes such as Merlin, Mulan, Rem and Albedo can remain functional, but I would not prioritize Ainz-era teams over the newest Dimensional cores.
X. Team Composition Fundamentals
A. Faction Synergy and Mono-Faction Teams
Faction bonuses matter, but Classic AFK Arena is not a game where your best general team must be mono-faction.
Mono teams become mandatory in faction towers. Everywhere else, cross-faction synergy is usually stronger.
B. Ideal Team Structure
“Two DPS + two supports + one tank” is a reasonable learning template, not a rule.
Many modern teams run one hypercarry with four enablers, two tanks with heavy control, or five characters whose passives create one specific combo.
C. Sample Beginner Lightbearer Team
Instead of the outdated Lucius/Belinda/Estrilda/Merlin/Rowan setup, I prefer a Lightbearer-focused starter structure like:
Lucius or another frontline / Jerome / Rowan / Palmer / Scarlet
Upgrade into Awakened Lightbearers as your account develops.
D. Sample Beginner Wilder Team
The suggested Lyca/Nara/Skreg/Tasi/Ezizh lineup contains four factions.
A real Wilder core could use Mishka or Atheus / Lyca / Trishea / Tamrus / Tasi or another Wilder flex.
E. Hybrid Endgame Teams
This is where AFK Arena really opens up. Lan supporting a non-Draconis carry, Liberta and Lucilla interacting across factions, or Dimensionals combining with Awakened heroes is completely normal.
Build around interactions, not faction logos.
XI. Campaign and Tower of Ascension Teams
A. Best Campaign Teams
Campaign increasingly rewards multiple teams at high chapters. Classic staples include control compositions, Awakened Shemira teams, charm/control strategies and modern carry formations.
Do not invest heavily just to push one extra campaign chapter if the hero has no value in recurring modes.
B. Tower Compositions
King's Tower uses multiple formations later on, while faction towers restrict your roster.
This makes broadly useful 4-faction heroes surprisingly valuable because every developed faction eventually needs depth.
C. Energy and Turn Order
Starting energy, haste and opening skills can decide the fight before anybody casts an ultimate.
Rowan, Lyca and various newer supports are valuable because they change when your carry gets to act.
D. Positioning
Do not leave formations on auto-pilot. Moving one hero can redirect an assassin, change who Rosaline follows, alter enemy targeting or prevent your support from dying in the first second.
XII. Nightmare Corridor and Cursed Realm Strategies
A. Nightmare Corridor
Nightmare Corridor rewards having several optimized boss teams. Current usage shifts frequently with boss rotations, so copying a six-month-old screenshot is risky.
Heroes such as Liberta, Lavatune, Daemia, Lan, Tavriel and modern Awakened/Draconis specialists are valuable because recurring boss content keeps giving them jobs.
B. Cursed Realm
Cursed Realm also rewards roster depth and very specific interactions.
A hero that looks mediocre in campaign can suddenly become mandatory because it boosts one boss rotation by billions of damage.
C. Boss Weaknesses
Do not think purely in terms of faction countering. Cursed Realm and Nightmare Corridor bosses have their own mechanics.
Read the boss skill set first, then copy the current formation logic.
D. Single-Target vs AoE
Boss stages favor sustained single-target amplification. Wave-based stages reward AoE, grouping and repeated damage.
That is why one universal tier list can never perfectly represent AFK Arena.
XIII. PvP Arena and Legends Championship Teams
A. PvP-Specific Rankings
PvP values opening speed, crowd control, immunity and burst much more heavily than ordinary campaign stages.
Awakened Shemira, premium Draconis, top Celepogeans and the latest Dimensional cores remain much more relevant than legacy Ainz teams.
B. Speed and Turn Order
The first meaningful control skill can determine the entire battle.
Collections, haste, furniture and Signature Items can therefore change a matchup even when both players use the same five heroes.
C. Counter-Picking
Do not counter only by faction. Counter the mechanic.
If the enemy wins through burst, use protection or opening disruption. If it wins through sustain, bring anti-heal or enough burst to end the battle before the engine starts.
D. Best Arena Teams for Ranking
The exact top formations change too quickly to treat one lineup as permanent. Build around your highest-invested modern Awakened, Draconis, Celepogean and Dimensional cores.
E. Legends Championship and Temporal Rift S16
Kraken-level Legends Championship formations often require investments a normal player should never copy blindly.
Temporal Rift is different: survivability and consistency become incredibly valuable because one bad fight can ruin a run. Awakened Shemira, strong healing, control and durable modern tanks are usually safer than fragile burst-only compositions.
F. Common Counters
Always inspect enemy formations. Even moving your carry from position 4 to 5 can avoid an opening attack and completely flip a PvP battle.
XIV. Temporal Rift and Faction Hunt Guides
A. Temporal Rift S16 Investments
Prioritize heroes that survive repeated battles, provide control and do not require perfect RNG.
Awakened Shemira, Awakened Belinda in appropriate teams, good tanks, healing supports and modern all-purpose heroes generally outperform gimmicky one-shot carries.
B. Faction Hunt Strategies
Faction-restricted events reward roster breadth. This is another reason not to sacrifice every 4-faction resource for one ancient carry.
C. Event-Specific Teams
Always read the current event modifier. Lilith frequently gives bonuses that temporarily push an otherwise average hero into the optimal lineup.
D. Reward Optimization
Clear the highest meaningful reward breakpoint first. Do not spend huge amounts of premium resources trying to move from 98% rewards to 100% if the return is tiny.
XV. Companions Tier List and Investment Guide
A. AFK Arena Companions Explained
AFK Arena: Companions is not a companion/pet system inside Classic. It is a separate server experience available in the same app, with a different roster, progression pace, social focus and balance.
You can maintain Classic and Companions progress separately.
B. S-Tier Companions Heroes
Current Companions rankings place heroes such as Awakened Solise , Trishea, Sung Jinwoo, Talene, Shalltear, Mira, Marcille, Lyca, Brutus, Mishka and Laios among strong top-tier choices.
C. A-Tier Companions Heroes
Nevanthi, Gwyneth, Albedo, Scarlet, Rowan, Rosaline, Mortas, Daimon, Silas, Ainz and several others remain useful depending on game mode.
D. Early Companions Progression
During the first few hundred stages, build a small functional core rather than spreading Signature Item resources across everyone.
Borrowing heroes and the Shared Hero Pool can also help clear temporary walls.
E. PvP and Dream Realm
Companions has its own Arena, Dream Realm and Guild Hunt meta. Never use a Classic tier list to choose a Dream Realm team on Companions.
F. Wishlist Priority
Use a current Companions-specific wishlist because its hero pool and investment breakpoints differ from Classic.
XVI. AFK Arena Reroll Guide – 2026
A. Step-by-Step Reroll Tutorial
Classic AFK Arena does not require the kind of obsessive rerolling seen in many gachas.
If you really want a fresh start, enter Settings and switch to a new Classic server, complete the opening stages, redeem active codes and perform your starting summons.
B. Best Starter Heroes to Target
Do not reroll expecting Elijah & Lailah, Talene, Mehira or Ainz.
The first three are premium Celepogeans with different acquisition priorities, while Ainz is a Dimensional who is not a normal Tavern reroll target.
For normal Tavern progression, getting useful copies of modern 4-faction staples such as Jerome, Palmer, Ivan, Naroko, Atheus, Trishea and other current wishlist priorities is much more realistic.
C. When to Restart
Restart only if your first account is extremely inefficient or you simply enjoy rerolling.
AFK Arena is a long-term resource game; one bad ten-pull barely matters after months of play.
D. Reroll Mistakes
Never leave wishlist slots empty. Never fill them with random fodder. Do not ascend multiple heroes to Legendary just because you can.
Those mistakes hurt more than missing one S-tier hero.
E. Free Mythic Acquisition
Stores, events, soulstones, hero choice chests, Challenger rewards, Guild resources and temporary campaigns all contribute to roster development.
AFK Arena rewards account patience far more than perfect day-one luck.
XVII. Gacha Summon and Wishlist Strategy
A. Current September Banners
As of this September snapshot, Valeri is the newest fully released Mauler, while Oren – Scourged Blade has already been announced as the next Lightbearer.
A new two-character crossover is also scheduled for September 23, so I would avoid wasting flexible resources immediately before seeing those kits.
B. Latest Dimensional Banner
Dimensionals generally use trial, purchase and limited-time exchange systems rather than a normal Tavern rate-up banner.
Athena and Medusa are among the latest released Dimensionals, while the September 23 crossover makes hoarding exchange currencies especially sensible.
C. Selective Summon
Hero Choice summons are excellent for finishing the last copies of a valuable 4-faction hero.
Do not burn them on a character simply because you can obtain it immediately.
D. Wishlist Priority
The supplied Twins/Talene/Mehira wishlist does not work because those are not normal four-faction wishlist targets.
Use all Lightbearer, Mauler, Wilder and Graveborn slots and update them whenever you complete the required copies of a hero.
E. Mythic vs Dimensional
“Dimensional” is a faction, while Mythic is an ascension stage, so they are not competing categories.
What you are really choosing is whether your resources go toward ascending regular heroes or saving store currencies for a Dimensional exchange.
F. Limited vs Standard Summons
Premium Time Emblem, Stargazing and Highborn targets demand more planning than ordinary Tavern heroes.
Save first and commit only when you can meaningfully build the character.
XVIII. Hero Investment and Ascension Priority
A. Who Deserves Mythic+ First?
Early accounts should prioritize heroes whose Signature Items immediately improve team performance.
Do not push five random characters to Mythic while leaving your actual carry unfinished.
B. Signature Items
SI30 remains a major breakpoint for many heroes, while SI40 is increasingly important for premium modern characters.
Treat SI40 as a luxury upgrade unless the hero gains a genuinely transformative effect.
C. Furniture: 3/9 vs 9/9
The normal AFK Arena language is 3/9 and 9/9 furniture, not “3/3/3.”
Some heroes work perfectly at 3/9. Others are practically incomplete until 9/9. Read the effect before using Furniture Cards.
D. Engraving Guide
E30 and E60 remain the major headline breakpoints, but efficient players often stop at specific intermediate nodes such as extra haste or offensive stats.
Never E60 every hero automatically.
E. F2P Ascension Order
For ordinary factions, finish core supports and carries while maintaining enough roster depth for towers and competitive modes.
For Celepogeans, Awakened and Highborn heroes, finish one priority project before starting five others.
F. Tavern Resource Allocation
Normal scrolls and faction scrolls are best used with a carefully maintained wishlist.
Time Emblems belong to Temple of Time targets, Stargazer Cards to premium Celestial/Hypogean priorities and Draconis resources to the dragon systems. Mixing those priorities without a plan is how F2P accounts get stuck with ten half-built premium heroes.
XIX. New Player Progression Roadmap
A. Story Mode
Push campaign whenever you can because progression unlocks systems, increases AFK rewards and opens additional content.
Do not wait for a perfect formation.
B. Daily and Weekly Routine
Claim AFK rewards, complete daily/weekly quests, participate in Guild activities, use recurring competitive entries and clear limited events before they disappear.
C. Stamina and Energy
Classic AFK Arena does not use a conventional stamina system for campaign progression.
Your real time gates are hero levels, resources, mode attempts and AFK accumulation.
D. Shop Recommendations
Diamonds should usually support account progression rather than cosmetic impulse spending. Buy valuable Time Emblems when appropriate, save currencies for strong Dimensionals and avoid dumping premium resources into easily farmed materials.
E. Event Shops
Prioritize scarce items: Time Emblems, Stargazer resources, Signature Item materials, engraving resources, furniture resources and other expensive progression items.
F. Progression From Early to Late Game
The “AFK Stage 0–300 / 300–600 / 600+” terminology fits Companions-style progression better than Classic campaign chapters.
In Classic, think in terms of early single-team campaign, later multi-team campaign, recurring resource modes and endgame roster depth.
G. Guild Participation
Join an active Guild as soon as possible. Guild bosses and Guild Store income add up enormously over months, while newer Guild and competitive features provide additional reasons not to sit in a dead guild.
H. Redeem Codes – September 2026
Codes change frequently, so test the newest ones first. Classic codes being reported active around early September include:
7TUZ4QI7CQ
7BH6PUM7YN
CLASSIC4F
6AB8KQBTZ4
13THLILITH
4HWZCS2UMH
DON2026CLASSIC
Companions uses separate codes and a different UID, so do not assume every Classic code works there.
Redeem them through the official AFK Arena redemption page using your UID and verification code.
XX. Common Mistakes to Avoid in Team Building
A. Ignoring Synergy and Energy
Five S-tier heroes can still produce a bad team.
Ask who protects the carry, who generates energy, who controls enemies and what actually causes the team to win.
B. Over-Investing in Outdated Mythics
Old heroes such as Ainz, Lucretia and several first-generation carries may still work, but their past reputation does not justify 2026-level investment.
Build for today's modes.
C. Neglecting Universal Supports
Rowan, Merlin and Ezizh still have uses, but modern universal support extends well beyond those legacy names.
Heroes such as Liberta, Daemia, Lavatune, Lan and other current enablers are much more important to serious account planning.
D. Poor Positioning
Swap positions before upgrading a hero.
That sounds ridiculously simple, but AFK Arena fights often change completely when you redirect an assassin or prevent your support from eating the opening burst.
E. Skipping Events
Limited events are one of the easiest sources of expensive progression materials.
Even casual players should clear the easy reward milestones.
F. Bad Wishlist Choices
A badly configured Tavern wishlist can waste hundreds of pulls over time.
Keep every slot filled with an intentional target and remove completed heroes when additional copies no longer matter.
G. Ascending Too Many Heroes
This is the classic new-player trap.
Five Legendary heroes are often worse than one properly Ascended carry plus carefully saved fodder. Commit to a few projects and finish them.
Conclusion
The biggest thing I want players to take away from this afk arena tier list is that AFK Arena's 2026 meta is nothing like the old “Twins, Talene, Mehira, Ainz and Rowan beat everything” era.
Those heroes were genuinely incredible in their time. Some of them are still useful. But current competitive play has moved toward heroes such as Liberta, Daemia, Lan, Lavatune, Awakened Hybris, modern Draconis, newer Awakened heroes and powerful recent Dimensionals. Fabled Beasts, Oath Marks, Collections and higher investment systems have also made team context much more important than a simple S-rank label.
For a new Classic account, I would focus first on a correct Tavern wishlist, a small number of reliable 4-faction heroes and efficient resource use. Do not reroll for Ainz. Do not Stargaze old Celepogeans because a five-year-old guide says they are mandatory. Do not build every hero to Legendary. And definitely do not follow an AFK Arena: Companions tier list while playing Classic—the two versions now have distinct metas.
For veterans, recurring modes should guide most expensive decisions. If a hero repeatedly appears in Nightmare Corridor, Cursed Realm and Treasure Scramble, that is a much stronger investment signal than being good on one campaign stage. September 2026 is also a particularly awkward moment to spend everything: Valeri has just released, Oren is arriving next, and another crossover is scheduled for September 23.
The afk arena tier list will keep changing because that is the nature of a seven-year-old live-service gacha. Use rankings to decide where to investigate, then check your own roster, game mode and required investment before committing resources. The account that progresses fastest is rarely the one with the most S-tier portraits—it is the one that wastes the fewest expensive upgrades.
